Hey Diddy, I voted, now I don't have to die
Yes, I voted last night. I drove the 60 miles to Omaha, just so that I could fill in a ScanTron sheet with my selected candidates colored in with a #2 pencil. I know none of the races in Nebraska came down to one vote, but I would like to think that I did my part. OK, so maybe I actually had to drive to Omaha to cover the Ben Nelson campaign, but I did go out of my way to vote. The only down side was that I didn't get an "I Voted Today" sticker. Luckily my dad was nice enough to part with his.
The Nelson victory (over Ricketts) party was held at the Hilton Omaha, located across from the Qwest Center. NEVER, EVER, EVER stay at that hotel. The kind people at Hilton decided that since the Democratic Party was hosting a party in their ballroom, they would raise their price for wireless internet just a little. OK, they were actually asking $100 per computer, per hour! It is a really nice hotel and all, but unless I get a free room with my wireless fee, there was no way that myself, or any of the other photographers were going to pay that much. I could drive 10 minutes to my parents’ house and transmit for free. That is exactly what I did, and it almost worked. As soon as I had finished editing my pictures, our wireless internet went out! With my deadline rapidly approaching, I woke up my neighbor and ran across the street to use her computer (thanks Halley). Photos sent and the clock approaching 1AM, I started to make my way back to Lincoln for my early classes the next day.
