It's Time to Slowdown
For a couple of hours on Tuesday, I escaped the hold that the College World Series has on me and shot an assignment for the AP. I had to shoot the owners of Saddle Creek Record's new bar SLOWDOWN. I don't think that I have ever met two more egotisticle people in my entire life. I am not a huge fan of their style of emo music, but they are exactly how I expected famous emo people to act. First off, they didn't say anything to me while I was setting up for the portraits. No "hello" or "need a hand?" After I spent 45 minutes setting up for the portrait, they refused to take the picture. They had walked past me dozens of times while I was setting up, but as soon as I had finished, they refused. If I had been a jerk, I would have just packed my stuff up and left, instead, I sucked it up and moved on. I said oh, that's ok (when it really wasn't) and took them to my next location. While I was setting up at the next location, they were whispering about how they really didn't want their pictures taken. OK, so the whole goal of this club is to get nationally recognized bands to play in Omaha and the AP is giving them free national attention. Well, I got the picture taken and packed up and left. It will take nothing short of a miracle to get me back in that place, even if it does look amazing inside and is a great catch for the city of Omaha.
